A questionnaire survey about acoustic environment was performed in Zhangjiagang, including 176 residents in 7 towns. The acoustic environment quality was improved in recent years according to survey results, 57% of the respondents were satisfied with acoustic environment, the public was highly concerned about the acoustic environment. It was believed by the respondents that the main source of noise pollution was from building construction, followed by industry noise, then traffic noise, the sociallife noise was considered as the least important noise source. But there was no significant difference in the number of noise pollution events actually caused by the four noise sources according to the survey. It also showed that the noise pollution incidents that residents actually encountered and the education level of residents had a significant impact on tendency of residents to propose acoustic environmental protection measures.
